This charm is inspired by the rauaruhe, the bracken fern. Rauaruhe is the first green to return to the land after fire, growing back from roots that survive unseen beneath the ground. Those same roots, known as aruhe, were dug, dried and pounded as a staple food that carried people through the leanest months. The meaning of the Rauaruhe is 'we endure, and we return.'
